What a beautiful made movie. just wished they had put more effort into the story.
20 min of excitement, but then it slows down the rest of the movie, and it's just a poor and lazy writing job.
I will give them credit for the way it was filmed, that's an Oscar worthy.
But no wear near the league of film like; Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, The Thin Red Line, Stalingrad or one random episode of Band of Brothers.
Again, the script is way to poorly written, to even come close to War movies like those above.

1917 (2019) movie download in french words. Riveted. That one word pretty much sums up how I felt during each second of Sam Mendes film 1917. Not many films have been able to put me in such a state where it feels like anything can happen at any moment. You'll be watching the two characters just walking across a ramshackled village, open trenches or sparse farmland and you'll just be waiting for something to come out of nowhere. In a way it feels like the buildup to a jumpscare in a horror movie however where jumpscares can be somewhat predictable in when they strike 1917 savours it's chances to shock the audience. The masterful way in which this film is shot amplifies this tension astoundingly, the incredible cinematography from Roger Deakins makes you feel as if you are standing right there next to the characters experiencing everything firsthand whilst also managing to look absolutely stunning in its aesthetic. One scene in particular set in the ruins of a village at night with the only luminance being the flares being sent up by the enemy soldiers absolutely took my breath away. The score too had some truly beautiful tracks spread out across the runtime with one of my favourites taking place right during the climax. My problems with this movie lie in the narrative, and with some of the choices made to the dynamic of the characters fairly early on in the movie. You'll know if you've seen it but it felt very out of left field and whilst it was shocking it felt like you could have done with waiting a little while longer to become more emotionally invested in the ordeal before this certain incident occurs. Apart from that some scenes feel kind of pointless, one scene in particular featuring a woman in hiding with a young girl that doesn't really add anything to the movie, it could have been cut out and nothing would have changed. That and sometimes the accents felt a little inconsistent, one of the main characters would occasionally bounce from pronouncing all his consonants to using a more modern rough around the edges manner of speaking. All in all though I had an absolute blast with this movie, I'd certainly recommend checking it out aswell as the featurettes where you can see how much of an impact that Sam Mendes' grandfather attributed to this movie. Solid 7.91/10.
